"Between two decisive and simultaneously amused statements made by Joachim Schmid at different times, one can encapsulate the essence of his 'cultural strategy.' The first, well-known, dated 1989, the year of the 150th anniversary of the invention of photography, is 'No new photographs until existing ones are used!' The second, more recent, is: 'Please don't stop taking photographs'... 'Joachim Schmid is a thief and a liar' was written with admiration and humor, much like the surrealists who, after purchasing old photos at flea markets in Paris, presented them as genuine products of the unconscious.
Building upon this text by Roberta Valtorta, I decided to gather the diverse views of the turrets of the Ducal Palace in Urbino, appropriating photos taken by various users who post snapshots of the famous 'turrets' on Instagram. The volume aims to create an illustrated album depicting the multiple facets of the symbolic place in Urbino. Using photos taken from 2022 to 2023, I attempted to bring a common perspective to the monument of greater value and importance in my living environment. The photos at the beginning of the volume are specifically crafted to position the 'tourist' under the turrets. A study based on user metadata and their photographic pollution to underscore the banality and ingenuity of the photographic act."
